Water Access
The ramp provides access to Salt Creek, which connects into the tidal waterways south of Savannah.
The location is affected by tidal conditions, and Georgia DNR warns that coastal ramps can develop drop-offs at the end of the ramp because of tidal erosion. Coastal DNR
Older coastal-access information also identifies Salt Creek as a small-boat launch because of bridge clearance above and below the ramp. That's an important location-specific detail for anyone bringing a larger boat. NOAA Institutional Repository
Getting to the Ramp
The ramp is not accessed directly from U.S. Highway 17. Georgia DNR directs boaters to turn onto Salt Creek Road and then onto Silk Hope Road, which dead-ends at the boat-ramp parking area. Coastal DNR
That is worth knowing before towing a boat to the area.
