Fort McAllister Boat Ramp: Ogeechee River Launch Guide

The Fort McAllister Boat Ramp is a public launch on the Ogeechee River in Richmond Hill, separate from the Redbird Creek ramp inside Fort McAllister State Park. The ramp sits on the left before the state park entrance and is operated by Georgia DNR. Georgia Wildlife

Water Access

The ramp provides direct access to the Ogeechee River, making it a useful launch for boaters heading toward the lower Ogeechee and coastal marshes.

The ramp is located before the entrance to Fort McAllister State Park, so it should not be confused with the separate Redbird Creek ramp inside the park. The Redbird Creek ramp is restricted to state park campers. Coastal DNR

Nearby

Fort McAllister State Park: The historic park is immediately beyond the ramp and has camping, fishing, a fishing pier, docks and additional boating access. Georgia State Parks

Fort McAllister Marina: Located nearby at 3203 Fort McAllister Road, the marina offers fuel, live bait and tackle, a restaurant, convenience store and wet/dry storage. Fort McAllister Marina

Important Distinction

There are two different boat ramps at Fort McAllister:

Fort McAllister Boat Ramp: Public DNR ramp on the Ogeechee River, located before the state park entrance.

Redbird Creek Boat Ramp: Inside Fort McAllister State Park and limited to park campers. Coastal DNR

That distinction is important when planning a launch. The public Ogeechee River ramp is the one to use if you're simply looking for a public trailer launch.
